NW Synod 14th November

The NW Synod of the URC was held at Worsley Road on a rainy Saturday. 200+ representatives from the North West attended and used ala of the buildings for meetings and stalls. The meeting was opened with an act of Worship at which our Young Peoples Choir sang. This was followed by the business of the day and concluded with a Communion service at 3.00pm. We at Worsley Road hope everyone enjoyed their day and have a safe journey home.

Pennies Make Pounds

At the January Meeting the Elders took the decision to end the Pennies Make Pounds collections for the rebuild and take onboard the suggestion of the Sunday School to widen our outreach on a Global scale. Their suggestion was to sponsor a child in another county via Action Aid. We chose to sponsor a child in Balk region of Northern Afghanistan called Nasima. The Sunday School will collect using the tins as PMP was and we need to give £180 per year to the charity. There will be regular updates on the website as we receive news.

Homelessness & Poverty are also here in our own City of Salford and the young people of our church here at Worsley Road are supporting the excellent work of St Paul’s Church Salford, which is organised by Canon Wyatt.

St Paul’s Church distributes clothing & shoes of good condition to the needy in Salford and are always short of baby and young children’s clothing. At Christmas we supported them with donations of toys.

As Easter approaches St Paul’s have a special project and will be collecting small soft toys in good clean condition and Easter eggs. Worsley Road is supporting St Paul’s Church by collecting soft toys and money, which we will use to buy Easter eggs to send to them.

The Sunday school and the uniformed organisations hope to collect enough to provide toys and eggs for at least 50 children.

Date for your diary 21st September Open Air Service in the Church grounds 10.45 as usual. It will be a Church Parade and ALL are welcome.

The Elders took a decision recently to open the Church on Wednesday evening between 7pm and 8pm to provide a quiet time when anyone can go in and pray and a time of reflection in the quiet of the Church. Please ask any Elder for details.

The Church will now hold a Communion Service open to all on the last Wednesday of the month starting at 12 noon until 12.30. See the event calender for the dates for the rest of the year.
